strealine = figurative make (an organization or system) more efficient and effective by employing faster or simpler working methods: the company streamlined its operations by removing whole layers of management
i.e 98lite remove internet explorer from the core of win98 .
go to this link the designer explains it all http://www.98lite.net/why.html

98lite lets you strip Internet Explorer out of Windows 98. It's mostly for the Netscape lovers and Microsoft haters out there, although I have read that it can make the OS far more stable and run a little quicker.

By "streamline", he means that '98Lite will allow you to customize Windows. It increases the options available to the user, most notably that Internet Explorer CAN be uninstalled. Or never installed in the first place, if you use '98Lite's install routine.
Also allows use of the faster W95 version of Windows Explorer, while retaining the good points of '98.

Lots of good points to it, really. I've used it & like it.

Doc, I've got the freebie. Cyclops over at HOST bought the "full" & said there's little difference. But I may do it yet, if just to support further development.

I loaded it clean on a fresh HD. IE never hit the disk, it really does work. Went with the "chubby" install.

BTW, there's '98Lite forums both at HOST (http://www.hostclub.net/ubbcgi/Ultimate.cgi?action=intro) and at '98Lite.net (http://www.98lite.net/bbs/index.html)

I bought the full and it gives you about ten more processes you can manually shut down and remove in 98. It's a nice program and it really does speed up the OS.
