W98 to W2000 upgrade 'Softthinks bios error'

Apologies if already asked but cannot find the answer anywhere.

I have:

Win98
MSI K7T Pro (MS-6330) atx with AMD Duron
Award mobular bios v6.00pg

When trying to install Win2000 I get as far as the first reboot then the same error message appears and the machine stops. I am trying to install as a dual boot situation. The error says:

'Softthinks bios check v2.01 error. PC system not supported.'

Does this mean that I need a Win2000 compatible motherboard as I see no way of upgrading the bios on this. I tried contacting Award on 3 occassions but they do not reply.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you ever updated Bios? look here> http://www.msi.com.tw/support/bios/bios.php?model=MS-6330 and http://www.msi.com.tw/products/mainboard/mainboard.php?model=MS-6330 It should run Win 2000 :(

Yes Cyclone. I updated from 2.1 straight to 2.9 (is that right or do I have to update each one in between?).

Other people appear to have installed W2000 on this mb but the Award site says you need to upgrade the bios to make it W2000 compatible.

Confused? I am and I have a copy of W2000 Pro which is of no use to me at the moment.

Just cannot understand the Softthinks bios message.
