I noticed that someone was getting help to remove one OS from the boot process. I need help adding one to mine. Here is the text of my boot.ini file after I reinstalled Win98:
[Boot Loader]
timeout=30
Default=C:\

[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
C:\="Microsoft Windows 98"
And here is the text of a boot file which appears to have been the original when I first installed Win2k and was probably replaced by the one at the top:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect

Wiin2k is on c: and I installed Win98 on D:. I had no problem when I installed the OS's on different hdd one other time but I should be able to make this work, right? TIA.

The best way to dual boot them is 98 first then 2000, not sure if you can make it work or not.
Is C: NTFS or Fat/Fat32, if its NTFS then I believe you wont get it to work due to 98 not recognising NTFS and its boot files go into C:
I usually set my comps as C:=OS startup files D:=98/ME or 2000 E:=2000 or 98/ME that way to clean out just one of the OS I can format D: or E: and reinstall no probs, just keep C: Fat 32
hope that helps

cyclone2,
So how did you make it work? You mention how you put your start-up files on partition C: and the OS's on other partitions but how do you do that?

Everyone tends to do things differently but that way works great for me.
I make 3 or more partitions first, then when installing each OS it will ask you where to install it. So if I install 98/ME first I will usually install it to D: [but boot files automatically go into C:] and then I install 2000 into E: when it asks.
That way if 98 screws up (and we know it will) I can format D: only and reinstall it without affecting my boot.ini or my 2000 install :) Same goes for 2k
