I updated from 98se to ME. Therefore, I would be updating from ME to XP...Is it bad to do updates as opposed to full installs??? Especailly since I've already done one?(98se to ME)...I've heard other other opinions...what do you think???

There have been reports of bad upgrades as opposed to "fresh" installs. It really depends on the CD you have whether it is an upgrade of full install. Or, if you have to get one, get the full install unless the cost is prohibitive.:)

Last time I upgraded..I used the upgrade CD with a fresh format..just need to put the qualifying CD in at the appropriate time..and away you go. If you own the CD for the OS you are upgrading from..works great

"Fresh" install will always work better then "upgrade", no matter what kind of OS CD you have.

If you want to save yourself a lot of grief with a machine that almost works then fresh install all the time.

Is there a way to do a full install of XP while storing all my files and programs on another hard drive. then after it's installed drag and drop or copy it back to the original drive ME was on?
