Dear Colleagues:

Fixing church computer. Had above error (with "load defaults"). I changed CMOS battery. Computer now boots through, no Safe Mode. Looked in Device Manager, Yellow exclamation: "Other Device" "PCI Card - No drivers installed." The audio and video are integrated in mobo. Otherwise, this Win98 450MHz Celly system only has a modem ("Device working properly") and CD-RW ("Device working properly" installed. I have video, as the monitor works fine. Any idea what the "Other device - PCI Card" can be? I del it, but Plug 'n Pray picked it back up on reboot and searches for driver. I have not checked audio as speakers not at my house. Could that be the driver that's not showing up, i.e., PCI card? In other words, a driver from the mobo driver CD?

Thx! Brangwen http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Instead of removing it, check the "Disable in this hardware profile" in the device's properties in Device Molester. That might work. Really have no idea. What exactly is installed in your PCI and ISA slots?

I agree, BFlurie. There ARE no other cards in that box other than the modem. And that device is fine. I can live with something being disabled... not the first time I've configured like that. Strange fluke, though. I also tested the sound and it's fine (mobo integrated audio). Oh, well. Still curious what could be triggering it...

Thx for yourv response.

If it is looking for a driver for the wave device, just pop-in the modem CDROM to oad that driver.

Thx Canit and NDC. You may have something regarding the modem. I learned the computer was having modem difficulties shortly before the mobo battery failed, so that could be it.
