3DMark 2001 Score with Win 2K

I Have installed Win 2K on my second partition to see what it is like, so far everything looks great, stable and fast (faster than Win 98 SE)

I have just ran 3d mark 2001 and my score was 2665, I am using the 21.81 XP drivers from Nvidia. Is this a good score? with Win 98 SE I get 3445 with the same drivers for Win 9x.

Is there any way to get better game performance from Win 2k as the thing seems rock solid. My system is as follows:

KT7 (non raid) with 850 ThunderBird @ 901mhz

Win 2K is the workhorse O/S it's not meant to be used for gaming etc. and is made stable because business demands it be that way, you may find later you have game driver problems, it's not meant to be the ferrari O/S and it never will be, Unless U can crack the Gates code (that's illegal). Win Me hasn't let me down yet.

3D Mark 2001 = 6415 with Det-4 Drivers.

P.S. did you know that if your ATA100 is hooked up to a slower drive (inc. your rewriter) it will run at the same speed as the slowest drive on the chain.

My scores are vitually identical in Win2k and WinME.

You will see better performance on most games on Win98 Vs. Win2k. I've also noticed higher 3Dmark scores on Win98 Vs. Win2k.

There's not much you can do to improve the score on W2K.
The kernel on W2K manages all requests to hardware unlike Win9x which can have direct access to the hardware.
W2K also give other programs running more access to the CPU then Win9x where one program can grab almost exclusive access of the CPU time.
The only improvement i've seen was with installing SP2 for W2K.
There are guides around the net on how to improve performance on W2K generally they will help game performance too.
