hi ppl,

I'm  what's going on with my win2k server. Well its not even mine, I'm helping out my bro at his office (they have no admins there) so one of the reasons I'm confused is that I haven't set up this pc, so i don't know what could've been additionally installed on it.

Every time i open IE (5.0), or even the normal Windows Explorer get this message:

"Some software (ActiveX control) on this page might be unsafe. It is recommended that you not run it. Do you want to allow it to run.
YES / NO"

A normal popup as you get it on some sites, but why is it appearing all the time?
I checked the IE settings for allowing ActiveX controls to be run in local environments, they are all set to enabled. So the prob is elsewhere and I have no idea what it could be. Tried to search for something similar on the net.. to no avail.

If you have any idea on the cause or even a solution, please share it with me.

PC is:
Win2k Server (without SP2)
128MB ram
logged on as Administrator
IE 5.0

thx in advance

Not sure if this is where you went but....GO to tools>>internet options>>security>>Custom level and check to be sure the ActiveX settings are not set to prompt.
