I am running win98se and Redhat7.1
I was wondering if I could listen to my mp3s from both OS. Which partition should the mp3s reside on? I have two windows partitions and one linux. I suppose this question extends to other file types, too, if you have any additional info.
Thanx all.

I would recommend keeping your mp3's on your linux partition. Linux can read FAT16/32, but I'm not aware that Windows can read ext2 or any other Linux partitions.

Well, I guess firstoff you would have to consider where you have room to put them all. I'm relatively certain 98 can't read any partitions other than FAT 16/32. And if Linux can read Fat32, then you'll want to keep the mp3's on a FAT32 partition so you can access them with both OSes. Better yet, if you have the room, put them on the second FAT32 partition. Then, in case windows crashes, you don't lose them.

Windoze will only see windoze partitions. That's the way M$ likes to keep it. Linux will see a multitude of Linux/Unix partition types, as well as fat, fat32, NTFS.
So put your MP3's on your windoze partition, and Linux will also be able to access them.
