Setting the MaxFileCache = 1/4 x RAM seems to work fine... My question is: what is best setting for MinFileCache & why? Some say set to same
as Max, some 1/2 x Max, & others set to 4 or 8 mbs. Does windows only set aside the Min amount & then dynamically adjust up to the Max amount? If this were true then setting Min to less amount than Max *might* free up some RAM for other things some of the time. Or is it better that
Max = Min, to prevent resizing (as with swap file)? Any feedback is welcome... TIA

I have tried several combinations of these settings and find that it makes little perceptable difference any way you slice it. I am of the opinion that it is best to let Windows manage the vcache.. I think the minimum should not be less than 1024 - I set min to zero and it seemed to effectively disable vcache settings all together.

To my expirience, letting win95 decide for cachesize is asking for trouble...

I had even the effect, that I couldn't copy a 30MB file on a 40MB free HDD, because the vcache allocated all memory during the copy and win95 decided to grow the swapfile to compensate.

I have my vcache set min/max to 8192.
