Microsoft is a powerful innovative company that seized an opportunity in the American capitalist way. Thier DOS and GUI coupled with the tools for other companies to quickly develop programs and hardware interfaces put them in the advantageous position they now enjoy. They saw early in the quest that the internet and PC's would eventually require tying the browser to the OS. That is the nature of inovation. Thier problem with the government began when they got greedy and wanted the whole pie. It is difficult to do this in a truly competive market, but thier assets and inside knowledge gave them a huge bargaining chip with the Feds. They can trade the keys to the secret files stored on millions and perhaps billions of user's own drives for concessions. I predict thay they will never get more then a slap on the hand for their guilty verdict in exchange for some of these keys. I only hope that enough people object to the secretive way in which this was propagated to foil XP and force Microsoft to put out an honest product. Or am I just horribly wrong. Let me hear your input. lilbump 09-12-2001, 06:08 PM I guess I like Microsoft because I use it (Thanks Dad) but If Bill can let out a piece of software that works it would be much better for us disabled people. lilbump 09-12-2001, 06:14 PM Bill does make awesome programs that work until he comes out with a upgrade so us poor americans can say hey what the heck we need his new stuff so we can make his other b/s work.....Wrong Mr.Gates think if you had a disabled kid from 15 years old to 17 now? What on earth would you do? Over charge everyone so you can sit and think Thank God I did it again.....Oh Father please for give me I have sinded?????????? lilbump 09-12-2001, 06:15 PM Sorry 15 to 27 not 17. ukulele 09-13-2001, 01:05 AM As an after thought, I might also ask the question; Has the latest attack on America changed your opinion on the need for tighter surveilence and do you think that as long as you have nothing to hide this is constitutional or necessary? Like many of us I am just trying to make sense of it all. Let's make this a forum that transcends the flaming and name calling and maybe we can learn somthing about the direction we must go in the future. superraton01 09-22-2001, 11:12 PM i saw m$ gave $5 million for relief to victims of the terrorist attack plus another $5 million in free software. no other company gave more. how can i criticize the company who has done the most at a time like this?
