Now who can tell me what PC game that quote is from? tazman 09-06-2001, 04:22 PM That's way too funny - I just got a tad bit "UPSET" with someone and threw my remote at the wall behind my desk. That wasn't enough, I tossed my beer at the same wall. 'Course it splashed over 4 of my computers AND my laptop. Now, most of my boxes are drunk! Anger management - here I come! http://www.sysopt.com/news/gws/cdata/smile.gif This did actually just happen http://www.sysopt.com/news/gws/cdata/frown.gif ME [This message has been edited by tazman (edited 09-06-2001).] Sleep21 09-06-2001, 05:45 PM I think that one's from redneck rampage caddmannq 09-06-2001, 05:47 PM What? Waste alcohol just to run a stupid laptop. (OK, laptops are a waste for my business anyway...but...) Reduce the size of the battery to save weight & cost, and put a little generator in that trackball. Keystrokes should produce piezo-electric charging too. The faster you type, the longer it runs. The trackball-mouse-generator should incorporate a pendulum-wound generator like a self winding watch, too. Whenever you just cary the PC around, it charges itself. Face it: this'll never happen. Have you priced a laptop battery lately? That's where they make all the money. The dang things cost more than a car battery, and last 10% as long. If the alcohol-battery lasts longer, they'll just charge more for them. Plus you have to buy the alcohol. Being from Kentucky, I know how to brew my own, of course; but can you imagine the look on my bosses face when I install a still in the server room? http://www.sysopt.com/news/gws/cdata/wink.gif corrupted 09-07-2001, 03:07 AM one problem with that setup here in australia: the batteries would never get refilled. and i'm sure there's a place somewhere here that does have a still in their server room, but i'm not sure where. sound's like darwin, actually. vintron 09-07-2001, 05:20 AM Two reasons why think this is a bad idea:- 1. We will have to carry fire extinguishers with us as the chance for these laptops to go boom is very high. 2. Humans will have to fight with machines for "energy" anybody wanna adda anything? http://www.sysopt.com/news/gws/cdata/smile.gif IPsoDIPso 09-07-2001, 10:56 AM If alcohol can produce electricity does that explain why some of the greatest world thinkers were drinkers ? Were they running on 5.5V as opposed to 3.3V? If you drink enough of the stuff, maybe you won't need a laptop? vintron 09-08-2001, 08:03 AM ok..... let's get started on human overclocking..... anbody know where i can find a suitable fan and heatsink? vintron 09-08-2001, 08:04 AM maybe i will try draining my blood and filling my viens with a better conducting fluid ....... what do u guys say we try freon first? http://www.sysopt.com/news/gws/cdata/smile.gif David2k 09-09-2001, 02:16 PM Head back to your chemistry classes! Methanol is commonly called wood alcohol, Ethanol is the alcohol in booze. Unless you are feeing like a skid row boozer and willing to drink ANY kind of alcohol, you better beware: a few teaspoons of Methanol can cause blindness and a few tablespoons can be fatal! As for burning, Methanol burns 25% as fast as gasoline and releases heat at only one-eighth the rate of gasoline fires. Methanol is inherently more difficult to ignite than gasoline and less likely to cause deadly or damaging fires if it does ignite. That is why Methanol is the fuel of choice at the Indy 500!
