Need sone more help. My sound card only has one connection and it's connected to the old cd-rom. However, after the writer install(which was successful) my cd-rom won't play audio. I followed the instructions and changed the file type/wave sound to point to windows media player. For some reason, it doesn't recognize it and defaults to the Plextor drive, which isn't connected to the sound card. Any ideas??

Sorry. I have a p166-mmx, 64mb ram, OS win95 system. Just recorded several cd's successfully. After the last 10 days of formatting, reloading the OS and drivers, and installing the new writer, I'm a little brain-dead. I should know what to do, but I swear, I can't think of it. Thanks for any help, guys and gals.

Maybe control panel-multimedia-cd music, and make sure it points to the proper CD device.

Yeah, I changed that too, but when I put an audio cd in the older cd-rom, the MVP2000 window comes up and tells me "invalid pointer device" error. It's like Plextor wants the default to be their player or else. Can't think of anywhere else to change. Anymore help would be great. Thanks.
Try changing the drive letter of the CDROM and CDRW. That may work.

Hmm, I've had the same problem before with my Plextor 4220, but I'm having a hard time remembering how I fixed it. Have you checked to see if Plextor has installed some memory-resident program that is "grabbing" control? Your CDRW will work just fine without this program.
You can check by hitting Ctrl-Alt-Del to see what programs are running, and closing anything that's associated with Plextor. Typing "msconfig" in your Start->Run box would allow you to pick and choose what's loaded when Windows starts (may not work: msconfig is a Win98 feature, but can't remember if Win95 had it, too) Otherwise, some simple registry edits will work to remove it. Post back if neither of these suggestions work, and when I get home I'll try to figure out what I did.

Just to give an update of my problem: got in touch with the Plextor tech and he said when you encounter the association selection(either by install or by options button)window, to de-select the CDA and Audiocd checks. Works like a charm!! Hope this helps someone else. Thanks for your help.
