Seems like an incremental improvement over the K7A-RAID. The only differences I see are that the K7A-RAID has a max of 1.5G of RAM and the Kg7 has a max of 4GB. I don't think I'll take advantage of that feature. It also uses the new RAM type.

The last person who said it don't seem like much difference from the older version he quoted, is way off track, for one: The board is based on an entirely different chipset, AMD 761 is the new and STUPID VIA is the old-kt133a. And the different ram is the main reason it is out here now. DDR Double data rate Sdram, adds about 5-15% speed increase alone, like going up from 1ghz to 1.1ghz just the new chipset, and the new chipset is created by AMD NOT VIA<stupid VIA that is...
Except the southbridge is still VIA junk that has problems and is still used by AMD, now after that decision by AMD, actually made my mind up to NEVER buy anything by AMD ever, since they cannot create a chipset for their processor (they are actually killer) I will never buy AMD, since Intel makes stuff that works and leads all other makers, well P4 is next on my list, after waiting for DDR ram to upgrade my P3 933 to an AMD, and AMD used VIA-Junk, well they made my final decision, INTEL ALWAYS!!!!

What great news that Abit is offering another great board for the Athlon! I cannot begin to express how impressed I was with the quality of Abit KT7a-RAID (though it uses the <"stupid"-I-guess-he-has-trouble-configuring-it> VIA chipset, and now it looks as though Abit has raised the bar. I hope the other MB manufacturers will be soon to follow.
I guess I should add that while some early VIA chipsets had their share of problems, I have not had any problems at all with more recent VIA chipsets.

It seems as though Abit has almost a carbon copy of the ASUS A7M266. The only difference I can see is additional 2 memory slots, If you use more than 2, you must use ECC memory which is more expensive. And the raid feature, It is not clear to me if thier softmenu 3 will support multiplyer adjustment on the AMD 761 chipset. This chipset does not OC as well as the older chipsets that the OC'ers love so much. I have the A7M and do not see the need to OC this system. The AMD chipset controls the memory timming and bandwidth so well, the performance is great without OC'ed. The reviews and benchmarks will be interesting on this board.

This is the board i've been waiting for! - well, not 100% true, since i was hoping for an MP compatible motherboard, but right now, i don't need more power than a duron 750 can bo OC'ed to :-)
I'm more or less in need of a Raid Mobo with DDR, since i do alot of video editing and 3D modelling in MAX - so this board is perfect for me. Can't wait till i can afford it...
My current AMD K6-!!! 450 is reaching it's limits, and i've really begun to need more power.
By the time i can afford it, it has been out in the "field" for some time, and have been tested.
Great Mobo!

I don't know now if I'm staying with ABIT or going with Iwill's KA266-R DDR Motherboard. I didn't even know ABIT was making a DDR board. Where was I?
But I do believe I'll be getting this board, I've used the KT7-RAID and KT7A-RAID motherboads and love everyone one of them, never had any problem with the board's what so every.
And I like the features on this board over Iwill's board, 1 because of the 4 DIMM slots where Iwill's only has 3 and supports 3GB's I also like the 6 PCI, they finally got rid of the ISA slot, no need for that anymore. And Iwills has that AMR slot, which I can't even find a device that uses that :-P
And! I'm glad they haven't put a sound controller on the board. Less of a hassle to disable. Thanks ABIT for making a new better board.
