I don't know why these ISP's are liting to the RIAA becouse if you read the DMCA it states that "A sevice provider shall not be liable for monetary relif...for infrengment for the provider's transmitting, routing, or providing connections for, material through a system or network controlled or operated by or for the service provider."
In other words, the ISP can't be sued for letting you trade files.

It is unthinkable that ISP's could be forced to withold service to a customer who shared files. If it did happen the tiny ISP's would become mighty and the mighty would become tiny. Do I need to explain?
I'm assuming this issue has no bearing on running your own web/ftp servers on the connection... even though many ISPs don't allow it anyway...

Since when does my ISP worry about what kind of software I am using?

ok ok, we get the point, no need to post it 3 times, heheh. anyways, why would the isp's do that? just about everyone swaps files, and the isps would just lose customers and money, something they don't wanna do.

TOO FAR!! Alright.. The music industry has just crossed their boundaries... Now THEY (corporate entities) are saying what I'm allowed and not allowed to use on my own computer through means that are out of my control... I'm making it a mission to distribute as MUCH STOLEN MEDIA AS I POSSIBLY CAN BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY... The music industry can kiss my @$$ and they wont' see a CENT of my money.

providing someone the means to illegally transfer software and music that you did not purchase rights to doesnt seem like a good business to be in. if they dont voluntarily cut down on such activity it could lead to more crackdowns.

Excuse me but how does the ISP know what software one is running? Isn't that a privacy violation?

Yeah, is it illegal for them to packet sniff their users? This is the only real way for them to tell isn't it?
