Faster processors from both AMD and Intel

So the saga continues, the war on the mega processers, as we want to know who will win. AMD or Intel. right now I think AMD has the edge with it's inexpensive prices. WOW a 1.8? now that fast from the Intel family.

Actually if you look on Anand's site that 1.8 does 2ghz without any problem, no voltage inrease at all. It really ran very fast once dropped to a 15X multiplier(it was an engineering sample so no lock) and run it at 133mhz FSB. It was beating the 1.4ghz T-bird in most of the benches.

It should be more interesting with the release the northwood core and when AMD releases the Thoroughbred. The Thoroughbred core debut's at 1.5ghz-1.6ghz and the Northwood debuts at 2ghz I think. When intel finaly releases the I845 DDR motherboard chipset so it uses cheaper DDR ram with a 4-layer PCB and with the smaller Core size of the Northwood Intel may actually competitively price their CPU's for once.

You guys remember the days of powerrated chips? Its like the intel chips are running at 1.8ghz but they are power rated at 1.4 LOL.

Well, consider that you are comparing an Athlon 1.4 or Athlon MP 1.2 at a much lower cost versus an expensive 1.8 Pentium 4. The fact that they are comparable makes AMD a superior chip.

Never had any problems with AMD,

Have a problem with Intel, PRICE ! !

For people who have a never ending money supply there choice is obvious "STATUS"

But the average person wants to get the biggest bang for his or her buck.
AMD is the way to go.

A lot of people still buy Intel for the name, I always bought AMD for the performance and price, INTEL for some, more goodies in my system with AMD.

2.0ghz...WOW. I've had a PIII 600 for about 2 years now, and haven't even built my sys using my new T-bird 1.2ghz CPU. Now.. if you are not a gamer or a business running server or other CPU intesive apps.. I can't see "ever" using that much processing power! Who knows.. Chao.
