Direct Connect has begun to take hold of an emerging market - home networking. Although their current endeavors do not even suggest such a move in company aim - when the home network becomes front page stuff, I am confident that we will find Direct Connect creating LAN peer-to-peer networks (wireless of course) for the home entertainment networking servers.

Another bold prediction by many in this industry of networking is the integration with Bluetooth technology once it becomes mainstreem (whenever THE HECK that might be http://www.sysopt.com/news/gws/cdata/wink.gif), as well as investing in technologies that promote device concentric environments for the home office and home entertainment servers.

This move by Direct Connect was clearly anticipated by the keynote Gates speech where he unvieled the XP plans to take over the internet server markets. Other subsidiary companies are looking away from Microsofts monolithic market strategies toward platforms like Linux, which offer more portability, as shown:

"this peer to peer with work on any platform"

---- the above was stated about Microsoft platforms

"any platform will work with this peer to peer"

---- this statement is made about the same technology porting to linux platforms

In conclusion, Direct Connects new agressivness in the Microsoft peer to peer networking platform integration is a short lived, but neccessary introduction to a neoindustrial revolution of the LAN and home networking solutions.
