hey i am wondering if ANYONE has any ideas on why i cant achieive a score better than 1118 using the defaults on 3DMARK 2001.
Epox 8K7A
1.4 TBird @ 1.53
32mb geforce2 mx400 (gainward model with enhanced mode 240/240)
12.91 det drivers
latest 4 in 1 via update.

Iva also tried the 12.4 drivers and the ones that came with my video card and would get sub 1000 scores. Also have tried without overclocking the cpu or video card with no luck. Also the score was made only after using the 'fast settings' mode in Geforce Tweaker. Thanks..

that's a pretty low result, this card is best at 800x600 resolution. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Are you sure the card is an mx400?
Your scores are similar to the mx200 model so you should double check!

Have you tried usuing differnt Detonator's? I found the 7.20 to be best with my GeForce DDR. So the latest may not be the best for your specific setup. Also go to http://www.tweak3d.net 's GeForce tweaking section. You might be able to get a bit more speed out of it that way.

That would be really sad if that was the highest 3dmarks you can get. I have the same mobo, but a duron 700Mhz, 256mbs pc-2100, and a Radeon LE (oc'ed to DDR's speeds). And it gets something like 2670.

You say you have the latest 4 in 1 drivers but are they configured properly? By this I mean, is the AGP setting at Turbo or Normal?

Have you checked the BIOS for AGP transfer Rate (be sure to have it at 4x!), Aperture Size (half your current memory -- if you have 256MB RAM, aperture should be 128!). Are Fast Writes enabled in the BIOS also?

My mx400 does like 2300 and my friend mx200 does 1054! That's why I asked if you had a 200 version!

Try to check these settings and keep us posted.!

http://www.amd.com/products/cpg/bin/

download the driver that fits your OS, if you checked your 4-1 settings and all that other good stuff this is a 99% shot this will fix it.

-John

Added note : If there are other people who have this similar problem - DO NOT use these drivers if you are not using a board with the AMD 761 northbridge.

I have the Epox 8k7a+ and was getting a similar score pissed me off because it was lower than my P2 400 score. then I checked the jumpers and found that the jumper was set at 100mhz so I would quickly check that!

How fast is your hd? Is it 5400 or 7200, that should make a difference. If u hate the results still, then run 3dmark 2000, that should show a much more realistic result on the true speed.

ECS K7S5A
1133/266 TB (133/133)
eVGA GF2 MX200 32MB
Nanya 256 MB PC-2100 DDR
12.41 NVIDIA driver
Running 3D Mark 2001 I got a score of 1204. In the project file I noticed that the Total Video Memory, Total Texture Memory and Total AGP Memory were all reported to be 0. I called eVGA tech support and was told that there was an issue with the 2001 not recognizing the memory and that I should try the 2000 version. I updated the driver to 12.90 and in 3D Mark 2000 I changed the CPU Optimization to Athlon and got a score of 3220 and the memory was reported correctly. Both these tests were at 1024x768.

OK i have the problem fixed. I just started trying every driver that was out there and finally found that the 12.81 drivers are AWESOME. in 2001 i get thru the game benchmarks and like b4 i would get a max of 14fps in the first 5 secs or so of the first thing, now i get like 30, and up to 70 in the max payne like thinger. I did haev a prob when it loaded one of the tests, it said it was outta memory, so i went to properties and bumped up my direct3d memory to 68mb and it would complete the test, but then would crash when it tried loading the next test. So i cant get thru 2001, but 2000 works fine and i get around 4800 with my card at 230/230. So if you have a Gainward Geforce2 MX400 VIVO Golden sample and get horrible performance, i suggest you try the 12.81 drivers from http://www.guru3d.com/download/ .
Thanks everyone for your help.

I have a fairly old monitor, a compaq 140 so I benchmark with 480 x 640 16bit .But still thats an ok score.Im not sure what it would be in a higher res, I just installed a 1.4gig Athlon which however I cannot get to run at 266fsb like my mobo says it supports. LOL. Its always the same one problem after another .God I love pc's

It could be your detonator drivers, i own the same card and the 18.30's seem the best.

My current system is:

Celeron II 700 o/c @ 1076 (102 x 10.5)
Ge-Force2 MX400
Seagate 20 gig hd 7200rpm
512 pc-133 sd ram
VIA socket 370 mobo (generic, but one of the better i have run on)

The problem i had earlier has been resolved, it was my motherboard drivers that were giving me poor performance. Now my computer is running super-strong and has not had a glitch in 4 days.

Sech,
What's your CAS latency? (Check your bios).
It should be 2. If it's three, that may be your prob.

hi Thats a pretty nasty score u got there, I was achieving 3100 with a duron 800 chip on a via mobo with nothing overclocked, Are you running the latest via drivers 433? If not try that. Sorry thats all I can tell you with the information you have given but if anything springs to mind I will let you know.

No i dont have the newest drivers but my motherboard isnt but 6 months old. I know drivers could be a problem, but usually on an older product right?

Anyway, everyone please give any suggestions you may have.

Someone mentioned earlier about having thier mobo settings at 133, but i have mine at 100. What difference does it realy make???

Im running a celeron II that had 700/66bus o/c@ 1076/102fsb, but flipping my jumpers to 133 wont let me even load.

I should not have doubted you. I tried a couple other things before i decided to get the drivers, and after i did...WHOA. My 3dmark2000 scores are almost 4000 and havent run 2001 yet. But wow, what a difference.

Thanks alot

hi all,
just looking at the postings; and i get a scaore of 1875, with:

celeron 800@934
leadtek winfast geforce 2 MX (original version)
320mb pc133
aopen ax63 (apollo pro i think).

now i know that the chipset on the mb is weak but the video card has been overclocked to core:225 mem:201 .
the drivers are 21.83 and the via 4in1 is the latest version why are my scores so low??
any suggestions would be appreciated.
