Since I'm a Plextor owner, obviously I'd like to know what works best in Plextor's, but in general, what are the better brands of cd-r's that have been tried and tested. Some could make a statement that it would depend of the paticular writer, which may be true. But as a rule, what would you recommend?
Also, am I gonna find as good a price in my local Office Depot as I will online for the cd-r's??
Thanks.

I've had a lot of problems with CompUSA brand CD-R's. I wouldn't recommend those. I've had good luck with Fuji and Sony brands.

I've burn't more Maxell cd-r 80xlpro coasters than I care for(8x, no writing to hardrive). Used Memorex and Sony for the same write, have not found a place to put my coffee mug yet.

I've actually had good luck w/ the Compusa discs. Also Imation.I use 'ol HP cd/rw 7200.
Its slooooooooow but works.I found the best thing to do is try each a few times, see what ya get.For my writer, Maxell and Memorex all have made mighty fine SamAdams coasters.
Just make sure to stay away from Memorex. I had so much bad luck with them using Easy CD Creator on 2 different CDRW's . Sony and Plextor! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif

There is no generic *best*. What is best is what works best in your burner, IMHO.I advise to buy alot of different brands, one disk at a time till you find one that works best for what you use the burner for.For my Plextor,Comp USA brand disks are horrible,Maxell gold are a so- so; but the Sony CDQ-74CN sold at Comp USA are great,as are the Kodak disks I've tried.. Try a bunch and see what works for your burner.

Use memorex if you do a little skeet shooting on the side, therefore they will have some sort of use.
I see you've had some misfortune with Memorex also, HFDWolfPack! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
