This is probably a question for the linux gurus, but is there any comparable benchmarking software to Sisoft Sandra or even 3DMark. Just wondering since all we ever see is Windows benchmarks.

I think there was a graphical benchmark about the solar system or something..!! I just remember the command... I think it was:

ssystem -bench..

I don't remember where to download it either.! Let me see if I find it.!

well, I don't know about CPU - but here is one for your drive (s)

$hdparm -Tt /dev/your drive

e.g. $hdparm -Tt /dev/hda

for more information try man hdparm

at very least you should be hdparm -c1 -d1 /dev/your drives

Well, you could download a demo of Quake3 or Unreal Tournament for linux and test it! I think lokigames distributes these games and a bunch others so...
