Hello,
This post is to address a serious matter I came across while looking at some web graphics sites. I heard about a plug-in called Third Voice (www.thirdvoice.com) which allows any internet user to post notes on any web page that can be seen by anyone who has this plug-in. Now what's wrong with this is that the owner of the web site has no control if this feature can be used! It alters the content of the site! Imagine the possibilities: on a site selling software some warez group could post a note detailing how to get the software for free.
Goto this address for a example: http://www.fortunecity.com/westwood/alaia/354/sample.jpg
and here for someones opinion and more info:

I will admit it is an interesting idea but in my opinion a bad one. Unfortunatly I don't know how widespread this is yet, as the plug-in is currently only available for MSIE4 (but not 5), which I do not have. Can someone check this out, see how bad it really is?
Thanks for the input,
Zach

Oh there are a few sites I would just love to throw my 2cents into!! But out of respect for the freedom of this media, a freedom which is QUICKLY eroding, I would always refrain from such nonsense.

It works great with IE5, I don't know what your problem is.

This thing is great! I love the whole thing!

PS: all that nonsense about vandalising webpages is just that. This program doesn't add anything to a page, it is a client running on your PC that sends a request to its data base for any info posted about the page you are currently on. It's just like taking notes on a notepad about a site and sharing it with your friends whenever they visit a page.

Besides, I think it would be illegal to actually attach something unauthorized to a web page.
