ok, i need someone who's a pro with WORM (write once, read many).

I've found several sophisticated duplication systems that can not copy worm because of the inability to write temp files to it as well as the sectors that are blank between data. The blank sectors cause the programs to error out. Fortunately, before I spent 10,000 dollars on one of these systems, I asked them to "prove it" and they couldn't do it.

Myself and a vendor think that we have found a solution, but boy am I going to be in trouble if I spend 5,000 bucks to find out i'm wrong.

ok, here's our idea: dos machine with 2 external sony optical drives.

use the xcopy /c command. the /c is continuous meaning that if there is an error, it will go on to the next sector.

anyone have any input? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I think it might work, but try this out.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Maybe I'm missing something here but why not just "read" the MO to the Workstations HD and then "burn" it back to what ever is going to be the new medium?

That is a good idea and i've been considering it. The problem is my cheap bosses won't get me a box with a big enough hard drive. these are two sided discs that hold a total of 5.2gig. The stupid server is DOS and I don't think the hard drive is even a 5 gig hard drive. I'm half tempted to just go out and buy a drive myself and expense it.
