Hi

Just installed a WD 400BB on my system, i Fdisked it and formated it without problems, my question is do i need to use the Data LifeGaurd UltraATA manager to turn on the ATA100 or is setting the bios and win98 to use DMA the same thing ?

If you have an 80 conductor cable, and the controller set to auto, the controller will automatically negotiate the highest speed it and the disk support.
No utilities required!

Agreed... I have two of them, and ATA-100 mode is enabled by default. I did however, use the UltraATA manager to manually set the drive run at ATA66 in my ATA66 system, although it really isn't necessary.

... and no, ATA100 mode isn't the same as enabling DMA in device manager. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
