Iomega ZipCD 650

I have a strange problem with this burner.
The BIOS doesn't recognize it on BootUp, it's not assigned a drive letter and is not listed in device Manager,...............
"SOMETIMES"
and sometimes it is.
I couldn't get it working for the longest time, so I went to all the sites and updated drivers for ATA, Iomega firmware, Via Ide Controllers and Ez CD Creator.
Rebooted and Whammo, there it was.
Burned up 5 CD' for my sister,and shut the computer down.
Next day,....No Writer in Bios, no Writer in Device Manager, No Writer in My Computer.
Still haven't been able to get it working.
Checked all the cables, power connections, and removed and reinstalled the software.
What the...........?
