Will the optical mice from Microsoft and Logitech work using a PS/2 to serial adapter?

That would be a USB interface attached to a PS/2 adapter attached to a Serial adapter.

I don't see why not?

Why are you buying an USB mouse for a system with PS/2 and serial connectors?

I've currently got a PS/2 mouse on an AT motherboard. I haven't been able to get the form card with the USB and PS/2 ports to work. I think something is wrong with the form card or my connector. So I've been forced to use the serial adapter with my PS/2 mouse.

Anyway, I'm getting a new motherboard (Abit's KT7) soon and wanted to get the new optical mouse from either Microsoft or Logitech. I was going to get it now if I can use it through my serial adapter. Just a short term thing. I have to clean out my mouse all the time now and the second button doesn't work all that well.

I know with the Microsft Optical mouse you must use a PS2 or USB connection. Putting a serial adapter will not work. Sorry.

Explanation works for me.

Good to know USB and serial don't like each other....
