I would Like to know why, when you fdisk a hard drive, It doesn't give the full size capability. The bios gives the full size but windows gives the same size as fdisk.

Need more info on your system (O/S, etc.) ... Sounds like you FDISK'd with an old version prior to 95B, or answered the "Enable large disk support [Y/N]?" question with an "N"...

it could be that or your using a really old version of fdisk before 95b that will only allow 2 gb max partitions.
To correct the problem you will need a later version of fdisk past win95b or later.
like SickPup404 said we need to know your os. If it's later than 95b then you can obtain the proper fdisk from your C:\Windows\command.

Formating uses bytes out of your HD making little address signatures. Every memory section gets a number.
That's why my 3 1/2 floppies are 2.0 MB before formatting and 1.44 after, but HDs are more efficient with longer tracks and don't lose as much in the process. The BIOS detects the gross amount of memory amd windows detects what formatting leaves open.
