The easiest way is to boot from the CD-ROM. Check your BIOS setup to see what the boot order is and change it to A, CD-ROM, C, or CD-ROM, C, A. Put the Windows 98 CD in the CD-ROM and restart. Then follow the instructions.

While you are BIOS setup check that Boot Virus Checking is disabled.

It might be more instructive to go with a boot floppy. What OS do you have now? If it is Windows 98 you can go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Startup Disk and this will create a boot floppy for you. Or do this on a friends machine. Then change the BIOS bootup order to A first.

I bought a new hd IBM Deskstar for my computer ,I bought a copy of win 98 for this drive,but I have not ever installed from a clean hd before can someone help me install win98 on my new hard drive ?
