I was searching for a quatrain of his but couldn't find it. However I do remember most of it.
something like:
on the ninth month of the first year of the new century the new city will burn at the 45 degrees
read it as you will but this is the 9th month, and this is the 1st year of the new century. I also think New York is somewhere close to the 45 parallel
this stuff always interests me, but I'm not one to really believe it. However it is pretty freaky some of his predictions.

The actual quatraine read the 7th month and the year 1999.
I remember people making a big deal of this back in 1999, waiting for something to happen. Well nothing happened.
If you make a hundred predictions and make them very vague, then you too will be remembered in 400 years.
Nostradamous was a kook.

Here in Greece in the 9th month of the year 1999 an earthquake happened in Athens which resulted in the loss of about 130 people.
But I don't think this is something unusual, and of course it is not the end of civilisation.

Check here for another skeptics take:

An excerpt of the actual French and English translation from this site:
The first two lines seem to be an alteration of Centuries X quatrain 72:
L'an mil neuf cens nonante neuf sept mois
Du ciel viendra vn grand Roy d'effrayeur
or, in English
The year 1999 seven months
From the sky will come the great King of Terror.
There is no reference in Nostradamus to "the new century and nine months" that I can find.
