Well I live in an area that has cable modems but I can't get one yet atlest that's what the cable company says... and anyways I was driving home one day and was watching the phone posts seeing if the Big Fat Cable ran past my house(don't try this almost wrecked) heh anyways it stopped about a mile away from my house? Well my question is How can I tell the difference Between Power, Telephone, and Cable lines and the Equipment that is on them. Anyone know of a site that might show pictures and describe what these things are?

Just wondering.

why don't you just shimmy on up there and take a look? All you need is a pair of scissors to see which one looks like a phone cord when you cut it in half.

The power lines are at top. Furthest from people on the ground messing with them. Also, it allows for a greater distance seperation so as to not cause interference on the phone lines, which generally are the next lower or lowest. The difference between cable and telephone is the cable cable is not as thick as it only has to carry one signal. Phone lines carry multiple twisted pair lines, so unless they are at the end of a run, there are gonna be quite a few.

This is from memory and the info may be 8 years old. I don't know if you have any fibre as that will be very different than twisted pair tele lines.
