How do I get rid of the darn User Name and Password Window that pops up everytime Win98 boots up. I always have to select cancel and to get to the 98 O.S. and am getting tired of it http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif Is there anyway to bypass this?

Leave the password blank and press OK. It shouldn't come back again. If you press Cancel, it keeps coming back.

Right click network neighborhood and use windows logon, not clients for ms networks.

What kind of symptoms do you get? Did someone set a Windows username and password on it at some time? If that's the case, and you don't know what the password is, you could just put in a different username with a blank password. Or you could find and delete the .pwl file for that username.
Are there any more clues that might hint at what the problem is?

I just ran across another thread with the same topic. They suggested using TweakUI: http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/Forum9/HTML/001837.html

Also, you can do a search for a *.pwl file. This si your password file. Deleting it should stop it once you are on the Windows Logon instead of Client for MS Net.
