I read the article with great interest and was able to purchase a UDMA 33 cable from plycon.com
What I need is a ROUNDED Floppy cable and a ROUNDED UDMA 66 cable.
Does anyone know whwere I can get them ????
My hands are not steady enough to try it myself.
Willing to pay reasonable prices for the above.

Plycon now sells em, sorta long, sorta expensive, but no cutting involved: http://www.plycon.com/wire.htm http://b.PostMyPic.com/b.nsf/Z/rnd33POOG/$file/rnd33.jpg

They only have the UDMA 33 in stock...they have not ordered a floppy ROUNDED cable.

Gee whiz man. If you're willing to pay a "reasonable price" for them, why not just get a few of the regular sets of cables and round them yourself. If you get a few sets then you'll be able to pratice. Ribbon cables should be very cheap, even free if you know who to ask.
Trust me, it's not all that hard. If fact, it's not hard at all. In fact, it's really, really easy.

Well, you might need to order a ATA66 cable then, because I don't have any of those to spare. But if you want a rounded floppy cable, just email me your address and I'll send ya one. Do you have 1 or 2 floppy drives?

Powerhungry: It's easy! You don't have to cut all the way down the cable and you don't have to cut every strand! I cut every 4 strands. Here's what how I did it: Found a nice piece of styrofoam to use as a cutting board. I took my exacto and just made a small(literally small, 3mm's maybe) slit every 4 strands. Then I carefully peeled the ribbon almost all the way down. Didn't mess one up! To round then up, I just grabbed one end and twisted the other. I used 3m electrical tape to keep 'em rounded! That's it! If you try to cut all the way down with an exacto, then for sure you're going to mess it up. I don't think a surgeon has a steady enough hand for that http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Nice and clean computer inside! I'm sure the rounding faq has more answers, but don't waste your money buying them! It only takes 20 minutes to do all 3 cables! Good luck!

When your hands skake (as mine do) using an exacto knife can be dangerous!!!!!!!!
