I have read somewhere that outlook logs all messages sent and received and the names of all attatchments sent and received permanently on a hidden file on your HD. IE logs all the sites you visited and what you typed in search engines and backups of all your cookies in some of these secret files as well. Deleting history will do nothing to delete these files! The files can only be seen in DOS! I will be switching to Eudora and Netscape thankyou. These programs (IE and Outlook) are both spies, functionally they are good programs but I don't need anything tracking my online activity.

Netscape is just as bad as IE.

If you didn't read it in the SysOpt News Headlines, take a look;

Deleted mail, cleared IE history? Not really. (http://www.sysopt.com/news/gws/cdata/Forum1/HTML/000266.html)

If you read the replies and follow the links (Socalgal's in particular), I think you'll find those fears are probably a little overstated. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Yes, Netscape is owned by The Evil Empire itself.

the link above goes to a site by a guy that seems to hate MS (probably wishes he had bought the stock way back) as far as I am concerned any one with such a name domain is one sick puppy. the posts would indicate in my mind it is a bunch of BS.

For a change of pace, try Opera www.opera.com (http://www.opera.com) !

I haven't used IE or Outlook for years for security reasons dealing with virii! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif But, true or not, this makes me even happier I've been using Opera and Eudora all this time! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Does opera have plugins for macromedia flash and shockwave?

YMK --

Opera copies the plugins from your IE and from your Netscape! So, once it has them, you can remove IE and Netscape and they will still work!
