yesterday i was out driving
i had to do a steep turn so i slowed down to about 20kph and changed to what i thought was the 1st gear,when i turned i pushed on the throttle HARD thinking that i still was in 1st gear,the car shot away doing over 90kph in the turn the enitire car started spinning but i managed to regain control before crashing with a large concrete bridge.i just sat there for a few minutes thinking about what went wrong,i then noticed that i by accident had instead of changing to 1st i had changed to 3rd gear
i feel like ive been touched by god
and that i must be ment to do some great deed or something
im thinking of getting rid of this darn car
and get one with a automatic gearbox...

it was more than luck
that was the first time i drowe a car
i dont even have a drivers license
Sounds like you were very lucky...got any angels over your shoulder?
Now that it's over, think of it as a learning experience.
By the way, are you so sure you did not actually go into first? Low speed acceleration in third will be very bogged down because the engine will not get up to it's RPM powerband as soon, as compared to first. Maybe you just didn't expect it to pull as hard as it did?

i was going to say the same thing as BBA, you would have a faster acceleration in 1st than you would in third at lower speeds

BBA and Flash
thats true
and thats the wierd thing
but im pretty sure it was in 3rd
the engine was not cold when i started the turn just before i had driven it for several miles at 70khp could that be it ?

LMAO http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif Socal/surreal. You're very lucky Skywalker, take the drivers test before you drive again http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif, good luck on your future driving experiences.
P.S. Why would you have a car/know how to drive it, if you don't have a liscence

So what car were u driven? Take quite a big engine to be able to accelerate at a decent speed from 20kph in 3rd gear. Or one hell of a turbo.
richamies

20kph = approx 13mph
90kph = approx 55mph
I bet first gear wouldn't do 55mph - all the cars I've driven generally top out between 35-45mph. And I've drivern some fast cars http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. A Lamborghini Diablo is the only car I know that'll get to 60 in first - and I bet you weren't in oneof those...
Acceleration from 15 to 55 in third, in anything classed as a normal car, would be boring at best. Unless you had a turbo-diesel with masses of torque, and one hell of a turbo lag. Even then, you'd have had your foot hard down for at least a few seconds waiting for the turbo to spin up to a normal speed - and then it would kick in, and pull like a train. And it'd probably keep pulling way above 90kph - in third, it should do around 90mph, which is more like 130kph...
I think Skywalker has got something wrong here... I know my kph/mph conversion figures aren't too accurate, but they're not far off...

Hopefully the incident with the lasar hasn't affected your vision to the point where you can't pass your test.

im not sure about this
but is it possible that there could be something wrong with the car ?
i had my foot on both the gas and brake before starting the turn
so maybe the engine was at a pretty high speed(RPM)

Once upon a time, many, many years ago, another driver cut me off just before I exited the freeway:
I became so upset at the other driver that I began making fun of him by acting like an angry, screeming, chimpanze behind the wheel, and I continued my rant as I took the offramp ...that was just moments before I side-swiped the gardrail...
