I spent about 12 minutes on ICQ - then I deleted it from my system......

I've been too annoyed by chat and seen too many people fired for it.... I outgrew it about 2 months after first getting on the internet. That was about 6 years ago.....

The one and ONLY reason I have ICQ is to communicate with fellow Sysopt members via the Sysopt Active List. I abhor normal chatting with people I don't *know*.

Unlist yourself from the whitepages, and only give your number to known people.

Click the ICQ button, View/Change My detais, click more options and click UNlist.

I get the odd message like that, usually in the form of a greeting card from young ladies I've never chatted with before. I probably get less than one a week though, so it's hardly a problem here.

I get these messages about once a month, I ignore them, and sometimes give the sender a peice of my mind.

Those of you that know me also may know that I help run the SysOpt ICQ Activelist. This is for members of SysOpt that also have ICQ. SysOpt members can talk to eachother over ICQ. It's great, but you need ICQ to use it. So go get ICQ and hook up with the AL!

I think ICQ is great, I talk to all my friends online, but stupid me downloaded ICQ 2000 when it came out, and boy oh boy. It was basically a WHOLE bunch of ads with a small ICQ feature added to it http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
SO I rienstalled ICQ99b, it's much better, and more stable.

BTW, how do u get on the ICQ Activelist?

ICQ 98b is the best by far. I've reinstalled it and rules!.

I keep icq running 24/7

I may get a message like that once a day or so. I simply add the user to my ignore list everytime. ( it's about a mile long now )

Also, keep yourself in invisible or privacy mode, going to 'online' mode makes every one see you and thats when the spammers pick you up.
