Max connect by law is 53k (in the US), and 50k is rare. Be happy with your 48k, as most people would give their first born child to connect that fast! I'll bet your friend is connecting around 40-48k as well. Tell him to go to www.56k.com (http://www.56k.com) and read about finding out what your true connect rate is. ANTONIO E GUERRA 06-16-1999, 03:45 PM It is too difficult to get more than 50k with a 56kv9.0 modem;if you get between 44 and 50k, you are very lucky. I have several modems and they are not expensive (not a USR) that perform very well. Your connection to the Internet depends on your internet service provider and the quality of the phone line connection than an expensive modem. Good luck! cobain1crt 06-18-1999, 05:28 PM Here is an idea: get a satalite modem! www.direcpc.com (http://www.direcpc.com) [This message has been edited by cobain1crt (edited 06-18-99).] Plaster 06-18-1999, 05:43 PM Yeah, get a satelite modem. Why pay $20 a month for internet access, when you can pay $60 with a satelite. Not to mentin getting rid of those **** free downloads. Satelites offer you a wonderful per/mb download surcharge. And, if you're lucky, you can watch them cut down your connect speed because some people are sucking up bandwidth. Woohoo SysOpt.com
