Why are they so expensive? Is it because of the Back to the Future movies? or is just a sweet car?

The DeLorean is a very cool car. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif I saw one of those a few years ago.
Did you notice that car looks brand new and only has 7000 miles on it? That might explain the high price. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Good thing about those DeLoreans is you don't have
to worry about weaving out of your lane because
the white lines disappear as the car drives over them.
I've never been very impressed with DeLoreans. Don't mean to sound like a snob or anything, I mean they are cool lookin' cars (especially from the rear). But a stainless steel body? That just seems like a lot of extra weight to me. And they're not very fast...or very quick...nor do they handle that well.
Top speed: 130mph
0-60mph: 9.6sec.
Rear engine V6.

Very true, Out, but up here a stainless body would be sweet http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif
I'm just impressed with the whole concept of the car, the doors, the stainless body, the way it looks, all that stuff.

Warthog - I'm with ya! I'm just a few miles from ya in the Adirondacks and they sure are salt happy here!
Besides, I remember the whole DeLorean thing and I still think it was entrapment - tho it's not a good idea to sell drugs, let alone finance your company upon them.

The DeLorean was an awesome looking car. Too bad he got busted smuggling in cocaine. The price is not bad considering the cars were not mass-produced.

Some 8,500 DeLoreans were made (at $25,000 apiece) from 1981 to '83. But the carmaker's legacy was dimmed by charges that he'd conspired to launder money and distribute drugs to support his troubled firm. The factory was closed. Later, he was cleared of all charges.
Today, DeLorean splits his time between a New Jersey farm and New York City. Reached by phone, he said he's trying to line up financing to build a new, lightweight gull-wing car priced at $17,500. "It should do zero to 60 in 3.2 to 3.5 seconds," he says. "It's all about the weight."

I liked this one the best: http://panteracars.com/by8.html
All chrome is blacked out. Practically looks stock on the outside. Beautiful car.

I like stories like this one->>
"It is early Saturday morning in June 1990 in Muscat, the capitol of Oman. The weekend is over and I just left the house and my family for a new week of work in the desert.
Ahead of me I have three hours to drive to the city of Sohar which is situated near the border of United Arab Emirates. I am working there on a telephone expansion project."
