How much do you guys in the US pay for a Quart of Motor Oil for your Cars?

I was checking over my Mother in Laws car prior to her going on a trip. The Oil was down so I went out and got a Litre from the local Gas Station. The was just regular Shell Helix Mineral Oil not any of that fancy Synthetic Stuff for use in a 1000cc Gasoline Engine.

This Litre cost £7.99 or $11.34 US. This means that a UK Gallon would cost $ 51.03 if bought this way. This makes the cost of 1 US Gal ( 3.786 Lt)$ 42.93 or $10.73 a Quart

About 4 dollars for Mobil-1 synthetic.

I would only guess that local gas station is making some pretty steep profits, or your country has some f'd up import laws.

Sorry, Doc, http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif, Kendall GT-1 20w/50 is the best, at least for high cubic inch American made engines !!! 160,000 Big Block miles and still holds over 50 PSI oil pressure with stock Melling oil pump. Guess ,I build 'em right!!! LOL

BBA - it's a tax thing. Most European governments tax petroleum products at an appalling rate.

We sort of do the same thing. Last time I checked - a long time ago - propane was $1.38/gal here and $.38/gal in Mexico.

Castrol GTX: usually 1.25-1.50$ per quart.

I use 20W50 in the summer cause aircooled runs hotter than watercooled.
