1) Is the CD-R recording surface the same was "dye"? If not, what are the differences?
2) What kinds of dye/surface are there? And what's the best? The surface I've come across so far are cyanine (type 0) and Phtalocyanine (Type 6).
The reason I'm asking this is because there's a great deal at Outpost.com (free overnight shipping): 80min 8x Kingston CD-Rs (cyanine dye) is $15 and 12x (Phtalocyanine dye) CD-Rs are $18.
