BBC News (http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/uk/newsid_1399000/1399244.stm) G krusty the klown 06-21-2001, 06:38 AM New car, sir? Have a GPS... it's on the house! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/Forum17/HTML/003659.html desmocat 06-21-2001, 07:37 AM Yup, can't get away with nothin' nowadays. What's sad for me is when one of the grocery stores in my area had to start Lojacking their pork chops. Seems that people were taking price stickers off soup bones and putting them on the expensive cuts of meat. I asked about why the clerk was vigorusly rubbing the price tag on my package of chops against one of the deactivation pads like you see in retail stores, and she gave me the "Lo-down"... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif HfdWolfPack 06-21-2001, 08:03 AM Put down the pork chop and slowly back away......... krusty the klown 06-21-2001, 08:17 AM I'm sure it's possible to beat someone to death with a pork chop http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif Graham 06-21-2001, 06:19 PM Krusty, freeze it first !! G What is Lojacking with ref. to a pork chop ?? G desmocat 06-21-2001, 07:57 PM Sorry for the confusion Graham.. the meat packages all have a label that will set off an exit alarm in the store if not de-activated by the clerk. Sort of like when you buy a CD or something in an electronics store, they have the little thing they rub on the magnetic mat at checkout so the alarm doesn't go whee whee whee and the door nazi starts rootin' thru all your stuff to make sure you paid for it. I just made a pun of it when I saw the clerk doing it to my porkchops. that last line sounds kinda bad , don't it... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Graham 06-22-2001, 03:09 AM desmocat, Thanks for that, I know the things you mean (little foil coil if you take one apart), just not the term Lojack, is it a trade name? G desmocat 06-22-2001, 06:58 AM Lojack is a vehicle recovery system thats used here in the states(maybe worldwide??) When your car gets nicked, it will start transmitting a signal the cops can home in on to help recover the vehicle more quickly. I think there is a couple different systems, but it's kind of like the de facto name for all of them, kind of like all adjustable wrenches are "crescent"wrenches. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif SysOpt.com
