Ok. Here's the deal. I am going to build MYSELF a new system and I have a question or twelve. The setup I have now was built by a friend of mine and I just kind of watched. That was two years ago. It is a PII 350MHZ based machine, 10.0GIBM 5400RPM HD, decent Shuttle motherboard (can't remember which one!) w/8M on-board video & sound, good 56K modem, good 4X CD-R, ect, ect. Before, I was an idiot about computers, but now I feel like I know a 1,000X more than I used too. I don't know how this effects anything, but I just want all that to be known!
I am also now starting to reach the limits of my system and want to build something better. I am mainly doing video editing, MP3 stuff, and burning cds. I also do some of the normal stuff like surf the web and play an occasional game or 6.
The system I am thinking of goes like this:
Abit KA7 mother board
Athlon 900MHZ Thunderbird CPU
256K PC133
IBM 45.0 gig. 7200 rpm HD
Plexor CDR-W
Pioneer DVD
FULL tower case
ect, ect.
What are my problems so far?
What power suppy should I go with?
Is there any good resources i should check out before jumping into a project like this? (web sites, books)
I will have many other ? along the way, but for now I think anyone who reads this should understand where I'm coming from. I want to do this by myself no matter what. It will be another valuable learning experience in my life-long conguest to take over the wo..... Never mind.
