Me, I like anything fast with technical guitar melodies. From bluegrass to heavy metal, if it has good guitar then I'm there.

Currently listening to the new Tool.

Alternative, Rock,Rap or Funk. Better yet I like a combination of all 4. Lately been listening to The Beatnuts, DelaSoul, Linkin Park, Beastie Boys, The Roots and some Bob Marley when im feeling mellow. Even listen to a little classical when im in the mood. I was jammin to some Parliment Funkadelic on the way to work this morning. Nothing like listening to a little of the Fathers of Funk to get you going in the morning.

Heavy Metal. Have been listening to the new Static X lately. Fav. band Megadeth.

Down with the new Metallica. Anything past Master of Puppets is not worth listening to.

Mostly "back in the day" heavy metal, like Ozzie, old Metallica, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, AC/DC, etc.

I also listen to trance, rave, hiphop, blues, classical, and just anything that has a decent bass line. However, no country!

My own term - "medium rock" bands, like Creed, Lifehouse, Fuel, 3 Doors Down...NOT really heavy like Korn, Pantera, etc (don't like those). I listen to those kinds of bands mostly.

Some old popular stuff - 50's, 60's, 70's when I want some easy listening music.

Some Christian stuff - Audio Adrenaline, Newsboys, DC Talk.

Some instrumental stuff (kind of rare to listen to, but I still have it).

The 60's were the days of my music so I guess that is my choice but I have expanded to other types as music is a way to feel good and while working I need to feel as good as I can as I hate it. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif BD

Hmmm.. well.. coming from a very diversified bloodline, and a family full of musicians I think I like almost any kind of music but my faves are:

Salsa --> Typical music here in P.R.
Fav. artists: Hector Lavoe, Ruben Blades(yes, the actor), Marc Anthony (yep, another actor), Gilberto Santarosa.

Punk -->Bad Religion, MxPx, NOFX, The Ramones, etc.

Emo -->The Get Up Kids, Yellowcard (cool stuff, emo + violin = cool), Dashboard Confessional (all acoustic), Face to Face (which could be classified in punk).

Metal or Hard Rock--> Ozzy, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Def Leppard, etc..

Rap--> Favorite artist= 2pac, Wu Tang.

I really don't like much of what's on todays radios (all of them "rockers" that all they do is rapping along the song-- I mean, rock should stay in rock and rap in rap!!!) and that hip hop and those 5 boy groups...!!ahhrrgghhhh!!!

Standouts being: ( Have stood the test of time)

MManson
Faith No More (almost anything with Mike Patton i.e. Mr.Bungle)
Nirvana
PearlJam
Stevie Nicks (Fleet-mac)
The Doors
Tom Petty
Metallica (from justice, back)
Pantera
Van Halen (DLR of course)

Alot of the new radio-rock I like too but most likely 90% wont be remembered in a few months.
Staind,Disturbed,Linkin Park, etc.

Godsmack is pretty fresh.

I dont understand all the hoopla with Tool
The first 2 albums were good but enough already. Seems like its "cool" and "exceptable" to like them.

If I hear "it's been awhile" from Staind one more time this hour, Im throwing my radio out the window.
I DO like the Studio version Of "Outside" (without Fred Durst saying "Im feelin those lighters")

Edit
Guess what just came on the radio.....
NOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

NOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

That's why I don't listen to the radio. They over play songs and promote certain bands too much. Sort of like little MTV's. I normally like the bands but I refuse to listen to the repeated songs just so I don't grow to hate the song. All things in moderation.

Metal, fast metal, alt. Metal, speed metal, death metal. Industrial.

W.A.S.P. - everyone should hear the Crimson Idol album - it's like a rock opera about a screwed up rock star. And the solos, oh the solos.... sweet. Bob Kulick on lead guitar!

Iron Maiden - Steve Harris, thats some killer bass playing, three good guitarists (Murray, Smith, Gers), good pace, solos and lyrics.

Altough i don't like Metallica.......
CLIFF BURTON RULED EVERYONE'S SORRY ***!!!

It's gotta be rock and roll music...

Rock and Roll, starting with the Beatles, stopping just short of Disco. Then restarting back when MTV was good.

Music was invented by the Beatles. Chuck Berry and Robert Johnson blazed the trail, of course. Donna Summers and The Village People tried to smother it, but real musicians took their axes to the rythm machines and Rock and Roll triumphed in the end. As it should be.

If you're in the Albuquerque area:

yeah Wart the song is popular among the girls around here for some reason. what i got out of the song was about have a tongue and sexual things with it. im not sure what the song is about nor do i care. The video is even worse. Weezer. now that a kick @ss band!! im glad they came out with a new cd! it rocks! and i can't wait for them to tour out here!! as for jewel after her little popularity and few interviews on MTv i beleive she went back to find some sort of insperation. oh yeah and Wolfpack the new Staind kicks. Along with tool. Now Perfect Circle. for some reason i could never ever get into that even know it was the lead singer of Tool. just never got my interest. i hate how people excpect the same for ever cd. its not easy at all to create music that will get the same attention as the last cd. Many bands like to try new things and get critize for it. People didn't like the new KoRn becasue it was softer and kids called them sellouts. I get angry at people when bands get called sellouts. You know have a open mind for once. As the band memebers mature so does the music. Don't knock it till you at least give it some time to sink in. i remember i thought the new KoRn sucked and then one day i popped it in and was like wow this is not bad at all.

sorry just a pet peeve of mine, from opinionated boorish people my age that think there was nothing good recorded after the mid 70's

If you’re talking about the mainstream music then I agree with you 100%. Much of today’s music is really bad, either the music is poor, there is no deeper meaning to the song or if the artist is completely bored then it's yet another cheap hyped up cover of something that cannot be done a second time (just like Madonna's useless cover of American Pie, the original is good, the cover is a waste of precious breathing air).

Just switch on the radio to any of the popular stations, all you will hear is worthless waste of the void, you will hear music that will not be remembered, short bursts of fame.

But…

There is salvation !…it’s called ‘beyond mainstream’, there are so many good, serious groups and artists out there, few people know them or have the time and/or motivation to sift through 400 CD’s at a store to find one good one.

However I am not surprised to see bad music making poor artists rich and famous, nowadays it is apparent that the masses will go for anything that’s hyped, and, the more the hype the worse the music.

Good examples of bad music: MTV.

I guess I am just really tired of having to interact with peeps my own age on the subject of music. Geese most are so narrow minded and ignorantly opinionated! They don't even irritate me so much anymore as just bore me but sometimes I pop. I know that I am a freak when it comes to a lot of things, hell I was into metal when I was 14 very bizarre for a little girl in 1968. Yeah, 68. I'm an old coot! I also know the music for me is much more than it is for many people. It is an experience, a feeding of my mind. Not just a pleasant sound to tap my toes to...

What the hell is fieldy all about??

Whats her name from White Zombie played the same note, never changed, through the More Human than Human song. Probably one of the reasons she developed carparls tunnel and had to quite playing. Let the talent of others overshadow, ride some coattails, and never look back. (Don't get me wrong though, I like White Zombie and Korn but I'm a bigger fan of talent.)
