Has anyone ever used an AMR slot? I heard that they are for winmodems and soundcards. The motherboard I'm buying has one, and I'm curious.

When I recently purchased a motherboard, the fact that it had no AMR slot was a bonus. It just waste space and resources that could go for another PCI slot. jman01pa 08-21-2000, 03:35 PM Not I. From what I understand they don't seem to be widely available. I think the technology was designed for OEMs' but the boards I see them in are not of the OEM type. I would also like to know if people use them. J http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif NDC 08-21-2000, 06:20 PM What is an AMR slot? MadMatt 08-22-2000, 07:53 AM Yep, this spec is deffinately for OEM's. I've noticed a few AMR 56k modems out there - they're generally very cheap ($12-25) Winmodems. Never actually seen or worked with one though... jad1097 08-22-2000, 08:10 AM AMR(Audio/Modem/Riser) Slot support AMR and MR cards. AMR card provides audio and modem function. MR card provides modem function. AMR slot can reduce the signal of analog. Analog signal would distort the digital signal. KAknight 08-22-2000, 09:37 AM I wonder if anyone will actually use theirs. NDC 08-22-2000, 09:56 AM Ahhhhh, I see. Thanks JAD! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif SysOpt.com
