My Computer will recognizes only 1/3 of the added memory

I just dropped a 64 MB Dimm into a Compaq 200 MHz, The computer originality had a 32 MB and I added a second Dimm (64 MB) so I should be at a total of 96 MB. But the commuter only reads 49 MB
What is going on?

When I put the new (64 MB) Dimm in ONLY, it reads 32MB-

it reads 49MB with the new 64 and old 32 MB

reads 32 with old stick only

That would totally suck if this Mother board was only able to see 49 MB, are there any jumper settings on the Board that would change that? There must be some way to make this board see all the Memory.
Thank god this is not my computer or I would have thrown it out the window a while ago--

Have you tried swapping it from slot to slot? There are no jumper settings typiclly for memory recognition. If anything that would be in the BIOS but probably not on a Compaq since their BIOSes are pretty light on features. Are you sure the RAM is good as well?

Since you already have an ongoing thread, please respond and continue with it; starting another thread on the same topic is confusing. Thanks!

Sorry, Dave. Feel free to repost your reply at the link Donkey posted. Thanks, Donkey.
