the score show an athlon blowing away PIII hehe this is good news bud... here I thought it was 5 percent faster but it turn out 15 faster in integer operation or drhystone... cheaper and better, this is unbelievable!

hey daveleau nice selection on the board im getting one of those in about two days http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
and i just been testing my proc out and it looks like its capable to do a gig stable but an 800 cbo that would be nice hope it overclocks good
win 98 if your refering to the athlon beating the p3 on the program i would say that info is not very accurate for the simple fact of the mobos used. The athlon uses a kt133 chipset which i feel is one of the best going out now for amd processors while the p 3 uses a 820 chipset which has proven ot be a very contriversial and disapointing chipset people still prefer the bx of via 133 over that
I still dont know which one would perform better i wish sandra would have done a comparison of benches using the bx instead on the 820

hmm i seen better score then that at tomshardware showing that 3d performance is much better on athlon then it is on PIII like by 33 percent. pIII is still a 6th generation cpu vs a 7th generation cpu and you'll know why it is better. they make athlon look really good don't they http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif you won't know until you use a 1gig PIII and 1gig athlon yaself. Being a little faster makes athlon the sure winner and with prices as cheap as dirt you can buy 2 athlon system instead of 1 expensive Intel computer.
inaccurate you say? maybe because you don't like the high score that the athlon is getting but perhap even pushing your cpu to 1gig will pretty much give you the same score as what being shown on the example... so im not biased or anything but athlon is clearly more powerful with or without benchmarking and that is a fact.

i see what your saying but ive seen many cases where p3 beats the athlon at the same speeds. I guess it all depends on your system and what chipsets your using but im not biased either at all and from what i see here athlon is the faster chip and the price is what makes it attractive.
