I have been pricing PIII-733/800 models lately, but have seen user reviews stating the noise level of the cooling fans was almost umbearable(desktop PC speaking). Is this a common occurence with the higher mhz models because of heat concerns or could this be a OEM quality problem? Trying not to inundate everyone with alot of ?'s, but this resource site is soooo good.

Jim, if you're pricing them for a simple upgrade and don't plan to overclock, the retail unit is just as quiet or maybe even quieter than the ones you are used to. The noise these folks are complaining about is from the exotic cooling fans and heatsinks they are utilizing for overclocking. There's no manufacturing defects, not with Intel warranting them for 3 years.

Thanks Rmcky, that clears alot of things up. Yeah, I'm not overclocking, just gonna buy a stock system. Thanks again.
