Need help getting UT to work!! Please help me :)

[Missing the point]

I am having troubles, whenever I try to play it, it opens, but then always goes to the "PreCaching" screen, and just stays there forever.
What the hell is causing this? I need to reset my computer every time........


BTW, I got a P III 500 @ 620, 128MB Ram, Diamond Viper V770 Video card.

Could it be that I only have 1280 megs left on the hard drive outta 13 gigs?

Well, I just deleted a whole bunch of stuff, and now I got 2.3 gigs free, and it still does it.


Any idea's?

Ok, Problem is solved, I used OpenGL instead of D3D, and it works fine!

MAN!!!! This game ROX!!!!


I was getting a average 53fps with all stats turned up, and at 1024x768 res.

OpenGL in UT isn't half as good as D3D.

Disable precaching in the options. BTW, I only ever got this problem when I installed a nocd patch.

Ok, whenever I play UT for about 10 mins with Quantum (friend), it ALWAYS freezes, without fail.

I have tried all the different settings (OpenGL, D3D, Software rendering), and nothing makes a difference......

I want to play UT, since I just got it, but I can't play for long, because it keeps locking up my computer, and I need to reboot.

I would like to get this fixed before I go to any LAN Parties.....

Are you using the Detonator3 drivers? I posted this a few times, and I have heard the same thing from many* people.
UT has issues with the new detonator3 drivers. I myself even lock up after playing the game for short periods of time. It is a great game and they need to resolve this issue.

I was just offered a membership into another clan today also. Sure sucks that I can't join because I freeze up!!! Grrrrr
