I have a fastrac 66 raid controller with 2 20.5 gig WD 7200 rmp caviars in Raid 0 configuration, an Abit BE6 II MOBO,
P3 667, 128 of PC 133 ram, ever since I installed the raid controller I have to disable the on board DMA/66 IDE controllers made by High Point technologies which disturbs me I was planning an putting a 60 gig drive in one of those slots. I can't have the PCI mass controllers enabled under sytem in the control panel, if I do it just hangs on boot up. if anyone has any experience with the High Point controllers please give me some advice I would appreciate it.

Well, I recently bought a mobo witht he highpoint controller (SOYO 6BA+100) and it was horrible. Complete system incompatibility that I traced partially to the Highpoint controller. The other mobo I bought recently wa the Abit BX133. had similar problems with it but got them resolved. It seems that the Highpoint controller is very very picky as to what can be used with it. SB Live! cards are one thing that it does not get along with. I tried to run a Fasttrak card as well and disable the HP controller but got limited results and lots of Win98SE errors. I hate to say it, but in my experience the HP controller is inept. I have not been able to get it to work easily if at all. My system locked up as well with both the Fasttrak and the HP controller enabled after I tried installign the drivers for each.
Guess, I am not much help, but I can at least say that I feel you pain...

I forgot to mention I am using Win 98 SE
I haven't been able to use DMA on my cd rom and CD RW with this MOBO yet when I enable it the drives disappear. Do you think updating the MOBO Bios might help with this?
I know my drives support DMA.
