We had to drive through pouring rain at times to get to Joshua Tree National Park (3.5 hours from home) and it was a cold and windy day, but all in all it was beautiful and well worth the trip. Kids climbed rocks until thery were exhausted, we saw cayotes, wild flowers, and as we were leaving the park the sun peaked out from the clouds producing this rainbow - the picture does not even do it justice! <IMG SRC="http://www.dslextreme.com/users/cmonster3/bow2.jpg" border=0>

Looks cool. I like that environment, the high desert. My dad lives in Victorville so I'm familiar with Joshua trees, tumbleweeds, flat terrain, sweltering noon sun, icy cold nights, floods when it rains, snow in the winter, extremely hard water, roller coaster like highways, and my personal favorite...really BIG sky. A moonless midnight sky in the desert just can't be beat. Only then do you truly understand why it's called the Milky Way.
