I take it you are in the market for a digital camera.
I have used a few and I am a past professional photog. The problem I have experienced so far is that there aren't enough manual settings on the digital cameras. They are generally to easy to fool. Setting the depth of good focus with an F-stop, to creating the look of motion through a blur using your speed. Automatic settings are OK but for the creative "you" there is only one camera I would recommend and it has come way down in price. It looks and acts like a 35mm SLR. I have primarily used the Kodak DC-265 and it is a very nice camera but it is of the throw-a-way lines that are out there to date.
