Hello! I just recently joined your community and wanted to say hi! I really enjoy reading through the 'community' forum because most people here seem so friendly and have a great sense of humour. I particularly enjoyed you "Five words per post". Most tech forums on the net can be a little stuffy-but not you guys (and girls)! BTW I'm a 30-year-old mom from the cold north of Canada (actually it can get pretty **** hot here in Kelowna in the summer). I'm sorry to hear that you didn't win first place for the best tech forum on the net.Actually, www.helponthe.net (http://www.helponthe.net) is pretty good too, but I like your close-knit communtiy better! Much more personal and friendly.Maybe you will win next year! All the best to everybody, sharon http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gifP.S. That post about the colors was pretty cool too.

Welcome to Sysopt, we may not have won that prize, but as far as most people who have been on this site for a while are concerned, this is the best site and the friendliest (not even a word I dont think).

Enjoy

Regards Iain

Hi sharon d and welcome to Sysopt http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif And if you and you PC aren't doing much, I'd like to invite you to join our very own RC5 Cracking Team http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif RC5 is a Distributed Computing project that utilizes your unused CPU cycles to try and crack an encrypted code (just it's legal). There are over 200K people involved worldwide. For more information, visit the Distributed Computing forum here, also our Team's proxy stats page: http://www.statsaholic.com (click on the By e-mail link to see how the team members are doing) and also the Distributed.net site, these are the folks putting on the contest: http://www.distributed.net
By the way, there's a $1000 prize for the person that cracks the code http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Our SysOpt Forum is the best forum on the planet!

We don't care if anybody else doesn't realize that yet....they will come around http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Welcome to our humble home, Sharon. I'm glad you share our totally wacked sense of humor ("Five words" thread http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif).

If anybody had kept track of my post count since the Community forum opened, they would have noticed that it has been almost stagnant http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. I've probably gained a little over 100 posts. Most of that was lost in "The Night the Post Count Was Kidnapped". *shudder*

A word of caution: watch our for that chap, Dr. Vette (aka Dr. Frankenstein), he can get kinda...."excited" shall we say......

<FONT face="Comic Sans MS">Hey now! My buddy <FONT COLOR="27408B">Dr. Vette</FONT c> might get "excited" once in a while (as might I), but he's hardly the type to act anything but gentlemanly towards a lady. Excited or no, he always has class.

<FONT face="Verdana">Having said that, may I now say, "<FONT COLOR="8B2252">Welcome Sharon D. We always like to see newcomers. socal, do you find that there are less female computer addicts than there are male? I received my 1st pc only three months ago(xmas gift from the in-laws) and now I'm completely ADDICTED. My husband and kids are starting to call me 'geek' affectionately. I don't know very much yet, but am always willing to learn and take a chance(as long as I don't completely crash the pc, the in-laws would kill me!)
OuTpaTienT, Cool. Thanks for letting me know, I always wanted a big brother to watch out for me.
cyclone2, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else other than beautiful B.C.! Though I wouldn't mind visiting Tibet someday...

Welcome to the forums. This one really is different from the rest. A little flaming here and there, but all in all we are a tight knit group of folks.

Welcome to the gathering sharon d!!!

The Caddmann and I grew up so close to the border in MN, that we had classmates who were Canadian! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Canadians??? Hell, we had PENGUINS!

We only grew up 36 miles apart, but we could throw a stone and hit Manitoba!!! BTW, those were Polar Bears!!!! Penguins are found at the South Pole or zoos!!

O-P-P-Ps That's right Baudette was a zoo! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif Now I remember going there to see all the wild animals!!! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Yes, I'd say there are fewer hard-core geek girls than boys. But that doesn't make us geek girls who are addicted any less passionate than the guys when it comes our comps. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

I consider it an honor to be called a geek http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif lol
