Ending free tech support? What are they thinking? Aren't they making enough money already?

Well, now, to be 'fair' they're hardly the first company to do this....Not that I'm any happier about it.

Lets see now 1 million people to upgrade their certification at what is it 300$ THEN 200 MILLION at only 35$ makes for a profit of how much without selling a product. and this is to fix a defective product at that. I guess my time has passed when no fix no fee was in effect if you sold something it had to work as advertised. Where is Johnny Cochran when you need him? He cleaned Disney's clock for $240 million. barry

Johnny 'KO' Cochran! He'da man. I like that texan guy with the fringe leather sleaves too. I can't think of his name.
I had no idea MS even offered no-cost support, you ever try to get through to them?!

Techs,
Why do that? I would turn around and market the fix myself and make MUCH more money in the long run! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Discovering the flaw and suggesting a fix are the easy parts.
Actually fixing the problem without breaking something else is the hard part.

You know, I'm really sick of the whole 'Windows is defective' shtick.
Yes, I agree, Win95 had some pretty big issues when it came out, but I've had ONE major Windows failure in 5 years. I probably spend about 8 hours a day using a computer, so that comes out to 14,600 hours I've spent using Windows. That's a pretty good ratio for one failure.
Yes, there are ways that Windows could be better, but it's evolved into a very credible operating system--and Win2K and Windows ME look to continue that trend with better memory management, increased speed, better P&P performance, LOWER prices, and greater stability.
What more do you want?
